Hello,.lets get started on Diffs: There are a number of things to cover on the subject of differentials so lets try to stay organised here.Diff Oiling for Customised Performance. The are a number of benefits from filling up your Diffs with quality Rc Diff Oil. It is common practice nowadays to use silicon oils. Ansmann have a good range at affordable prices, but there are many others and reccomendations from experienced RC'ers are welcomed. Different viscosities (oil thickness) will provide a whole host of variences of your performance such as cornering speed, getting the power down, locking diffs up for more traction, loosening em for less. An easy way to look at is heavy oils improve acceleration + Light Oils improve cornering (But that applies the other way around too, as in thick oil kills cornering). So its a matter of finding what u need or want for the surfaces you're running on. Stock Differentials come installed with grease so they will need cleaning 1st. You will need to remove your diffs (obviously) which can be a lengthy process for 1st timers, after which if you pay attention you will probably realise there is a quicker yet fiddly method. You will need some de-greaser or simply warm soapy water and a toothbrush or similar to clean all the little cogs. This is a time consuming process but well worth it. A common Nitro setup is 7,000 front 5,000 Middle and 3,000 Rear (CST). Brushless have up to 100,000 (CST) in the middle. What you need to be aware of is the thinner the oil the more wear on the diff. When filling diffs it is important not to overfill them see picture below (note specs are from another model, ignore em) Shimming or Shims: Shims will be required and are pre-installed on/in stock diffs. If u need more these are what U need It is important to minimise slop but dont wedge em in you always need a little "play" with moving parts.Replacement Gears: As time goes by you will need to replace your internal differential gearing. And as you now need them it would be worth the little extra cost to install the hardend gears that are available as an upgrade. Here are the stock parts # 101087 LINK Here are the upgraded parts. # 101142 LINK Currently the best price is from Ebay Uk HERE Spiral Input Gear # 101191 LINK(Note: this stock part for the truggy but is option part for the buggy) Front or Rear Spiral Diff Gear # 101192 LINK (Note: this stock part for the truggy but is option part for the buggy) Centre (Mid Diff) Spur Gear # 101188 LINK(Note: this stock part for the truggy 50T but is option part for the buggy--stock buggy is 46t) Complete Diffs Stock (Front or Rear) # 101186 LINK (truggy stock) Complete Mid Diff # 101187 LINK Note: The only difference between the Mid/Centre Diff and the Front/Rear Is the Spiral gear plate that screws on.
